NFM exists to help all people concerned about the quality and future of higher education to take action to improve it by improving the working conditions of the majority of its faculty.  There are a number of ways in which people can take action.  At NFM, we like to say that the actions we take fall into the following categories:

Witness:  To give contingent faculty a voice and a place at the table in discussions and debates over higher education's future; to inform the country about the reality of teaching off the tenure track

Worker/Watchdog:  To collaborate in good faith with existing institutions and organizations that are also working in good faith to improve higher education, and to help them stay true to their principles and objectives without having to exploit educators and students

Whistleblower: To expose unethical policies and practices that harm faculty and students and undermine the goal of excellence in higher education
