New Faculty Majority Foundation supports the work of NFM with complementary programming.  Its mission is to educate the public about the impact of the contingent faculty crisis on educational quality and the public good, and to mobilize a broad coalition of constituencies to support ethical reform.

As a 501(c)3 public charity, the NFM Foundation engages in research, education and advocacy to improve the quality of higher education by improving the working conditions of the majority of its faculty.

The NFM Foundation has received support from The Marguerite Casey Foundation, The Ford Foundation, The French American Charitable Trust, The Rockefeller Foundation, The Discount Foundation, and The Tides Foundation.  This support allowed it to convene the first national Summit on contingency in higher education, in conjunction with NFM and the Association of American Colleges and Universities, on January 28, 2012 in Washington DC.

In addition to disseminating research on contingency, NFMF identifies needed areas of research and engages in original and collaborative or sponsored research.  Its first such project was the development of a survey instrument for assessing back-to-school faculty hiring practices.  NFMF carried out a survey of these practices in Fall 2011, some of the results of which form the basis for a report being released on August 23, 2012 by the Center for the Future of Higher Education, the think tank of the Campaign for the Future of Higher Education.
